Jean Kavich Bloom has worked within the publishing industry for thirty-six years. For nearly twenty-four years, she was employed by Zondervan publishing house in Michigan, completing her career there as an executive managing editor. In late 2011 she took her freelance business, Bloom in Words Editorial Services, full-time when she and her husband returned to Central Indiana to live near family.
Jean is engaged by Christian publishing houses and individual authors, providing more than one level of editing for both fiction and nonfiction books: substantive, line, and copy. The latter two are most often conducted in combination. Several of her publisher clients request that she work directly with their authors, and some have asked her to perform all three stages of editing for a single book, providing unique continuity. In addition, she offers non-byline writing services and proofreading, the last editorial stage for any book.
Jean has provided editing for more than 150 nonfiction titles and more than 115 novels and novellas. The works include several ECPA Christy Award and ACFW Carol Award winners and finalists, as well as a finalist for an ECPA Christian Book award.
